This week’s social skills lesson is about taking turns during conversations and practicing how to have a conversation with someone even if it isn’t exactly what you want to talk about. When you have a conversation with someone, remember to:
- have your body facing the other person
- have your eyes looking at their eyes
- keep your body still and calm
- keep your words off while they are talking

For today’s lesson, first watch the video below. Miss Courtney and Miss Katelin will read a silly story about friends having a conversation with each other. Then, Miss Courtney and Miss Katelin will demonstrate how to take turns during a conversation. The cool thing about having conversations with someone is they work even if you’re talking to someone through the computer!

Activity: Find a family member and have a back and forth conversation with them. First, you pick the topic you want to talk about and see how many turns you can keep the conversation going about that topic. Then, let your family member pick the topic of the conversation and practice having a conversation by asking them questions and making related comments.

BONUS activity: draw a picture of you and your family member having a conversation by using the thought bubble template below (or add your own thought bubbles to your picture). Inside the thought bubbles draw what your conversation was about.

And now we’re off to LETTERLAND!

Magic C Letterland Activity Cards:
  1. Print out these cards (or write the letters on a piece of paper/index card if you don’t want to print them) and use them in the following ways: These games are not meant to be played all this week. Pick one game to play each week based on your child’s interest or the level they are at with their letters/letter sounds. These games will continue as we review our letters over the next few weeks.  You can play them multiple times
    1. Match the uppercase letters with their same letter pair.
    2. Place all the letters face down and play a memory game
    3. Do a “Quick Dash” game. (Show the letter. They say the name of the Letterlander they see. Then say the letter. Last, the letter sound. “Clever Cat, C, /C/”)
