Thursday

Hope everyone has been having fun with this week's activities so far! Check out what we have for today!

1. Handwriting Formation Review (Magic C Letters)

Get a small container or cookie tray.  Fill it.  (ie. sand, salt, flour, oatmeal, hair gel, shaving cream-whatever you have at home) and have your child use their finger, a paintbrush, closed marker, or anything that they can hold in their alligator fingers to make the letters. Remind them to use the correct formation.  If you use sand, salt, flour, or oatmeal, hair gel, save it in a baggie or in the container to use again next week)

C- “Start at the top in the Center, Big Curve down to the bottom”

G- “Start at the top in the Center, Big Curve down to the bottom, Little line up to the middle, Little line toward the magic C.”

O- “Start at the top in the Center, Big Curve down to the bottom and back up to the top.”

Q- “Start at the top in the Center, Big Curve down to the bottom and back up to the top. Frog jump, little line diagonal at the bottom.”

S-“Start at the top in the Center, Little curve toward the middle, Little curve to other directions toward the bottom.”

J-” Start at the top in the center, Big Line straight down, Little curve at the top up, Jump to the top, Little line at the top.”

2. Newton and Me Story or  Oscar and the Cricket Story: Science Exploration:

Below are two stories about forces of motion: Choose 1 or listen to both stories:

After watching this story about pushing and pulling, find 3-5 toys that you like to play with. (ie: toy car, ball, lego). Then make your child predict how they can get the object to move. (“Do you think you need to push the car or pull the car to make it move?”)  Experiment with these concepts.  Reinforce the vocabulary of push and pull.  “We use our muscles to push and pull objects to make them move.”

3. Kick the Cup Letter Game - ELA

Materials: Disposable cups, dry erase markers (other any markers), a ball

How to play:

-Have your child or write a letter on each cup(ie: letters in their name, Magic C letters).

-You might want to play this game outside

-Place the ball a few feet away and encourage them to kick the cups.  After they kick the cups over, ask them to label the letters on the cups.

-This can be played over and over using different variations. (For example: Kick the letters in your name

over in order, Challenge them to say the letter sound, or write numbers on the cups instead)
