Thursday April 30

Hope everyone has been having fun with this week's activities so far! Check out what we have for today!

1. Dinosaur Train Online Games (Math Concepts)
Pinecone Pass- Concept of Length Activities

Dino Drink- Concept of Size Activities

2. Harry’s Bucket of Dinosaurs- (Book Related Math Extension)
(1:1 correspondence, Part/Part/Whole Concept)
On Tuesday, you might have watched the reading of the book Harry’s Bucket of Dinosaurs.  In this story, Harry creates a collection of dinosaurs that he keeps in a bucket.  Have your child create a collection of small toys or objects (ie: legos, pennies, crayons, etc). Have your child count the collection. Now encourage them to break the collection up into 2 groups. Use 2 buckets or a mat to help them create two sets.  Have them count each of the new groups(parts) and use comparative language to challenge them.

(“Which group has more? Which group has less? Are the groups equal?”)
You can print out the visual below to help or use buckets or containers at home.

3. Dinosaur Letter Hunt (ELA)
This dinosaur has the letters we have learned from Letterland on it.
Show you child this dinosaur and say a letter, sound or a name of an object for the letter depending on your child’s level (“Find W”, “Find/w/”, or “Find the letter that you hear in the beginning of the word water.”). Have your child point to the letter.
Or
Print out the dinosaur below.  Say a letter, sound or a name of an object for the letter depending on your child’s level (“Find W”, “Find/w/”, or “Find the letter that you hear in the beginning of the word water.”).  Have your child color the circle with the letter.
**You can also give your child a hint. The letter is on the dinosaur's tail or the letter is on the dinosaur’s foot.
