Thursday Activities (April 9)

Hope everyone has been having fun with this week's activities so far! Check out what we have for today!

1. Math: Subitize Review
Our class has previously learned the skill of subitizing.  Subitizing is recognizing how many objects are in a set without counting the objects.  For example, if I hold up 3 fingers for a student they will automatically say 3.
Watch these videos and sing the songs:

Activity:
Find 5 objects that are the same around your house.  Ask your child to hide their eyes. Cover a set of up to the number 5. objects with a blanket or bowl. Tell your child to open their eyes.  Reveal the objects and ask your child to subitize the set. You can give them a few seconds to recognize how many or as much time as they need. Then have your child take the role as the hider and you can subitize.  They love having a turn to be the teacher. Have fun!!

2. Science- Making a Spring Journal
Watch this video:
Activity:
It’s spring! Go outside with a grownup and find a sign of spring in your backyard or neighborhood.  Either draw the picture of what you see or have your grownup take a picture of it. Send me your signs of spring so I can post them for your friends to see. In my yard I have yellow flowers called daffodils starting to grow.  What signs of spring do you see?

3. Mindfulness-Spring Guided Meditation
Flower Power
