Tuesday June 2

Tuesday:

Today’s social emotional lesson is all about feelings. First, listen to the read aloud of the story “I’m Happy-Sad Today.” Then choose one of the activities below, which are all right from today’s story. If you think more than one of the activities look fun, give a few a try!

I’m Happy-Sad Today

Activity Options:

Pretending with Animals, toys, or dolls: Use a stuffed animal, toy, or doll to act out different feelings. First, you act out a feeling, then pretend your animal, toy, or doll is alive and have them act out the same feeling.

(Examples from the story of feelings you can try: happy, sad, mad, excited, frustrated, scared, brave, friendly, shy, proud, jealous, determined)

Dancing and Movement: Listen to different songs and dance to the music, however that music makes your body move. Tell a grown-up how each song makes you feel.

Painting: Put out 2 pieces of paper side by side and use different color paints (or crayons if you’d rather) to paint on both papers at the same time using both hands. Try using the 4 colors from zones of regulation (blue, green, red & yellow). This will show how sometimes you experience multiple feelings at the same time and they get mixed up together.

Making Up Words: Choose 2 different emotion words and see if you can put them together to make a new, made up emotion word (e.g., sad + mad = smad; happy + excited = happcited).

Now it’s off to Letterland!!
