Transportation Unit April 7-11

Books This Week:
How Will We Get To The Beach
The Boats on The River
Subway Sparrow

Discussion Topics/Questions This Week:
-How is transportation powered
-Wheel Size-Comparing different wheeled vehicles, rotation/coverage
-Super Submarine
-Mighty Machines video (We will watch a video about construction vehicles as part of a class reward)

Small Groups For This Week:
1. Boat Capacity- We will fill different boats with objects to see which boat can take the most cargo.  We will use tweezers/clothespins to fill our boats to promote fine motor too. 
2. How will we get to the beach story retelling- We will recall elements of our unit book.
3.Rocket ship Countdown- We will count backwards and forward to create a rocket ship strip.
1. Periscopes- We will be making periscopes to go along with our discussion of underwater transportation.
2.Parking Lot Game- We will use 1:1 correspondence to count then identify the corresponding number to fill up a parking lot.
3. Name Trains- We will color and cut trains to create a train with our names.

Handwriting and Letter Play Small groups
-We will continuing a program called Handwriting Without Tears. It's focus is on letter formation and letter awareness. This program reinforces proper grasp and trying to strengthen fine motor muscles.
-Sounds we hear in letters activity
-We are working on letters with magic C. (G, C, D)
-Alphabet Arc Activities


Preschool Manners
-When an adult tells you to wait, say, 'Okay', and your waiting words.
- Our waiting words are "When you wait quietly, I get what I want".
- This life skill is promoting appropriating ways in waiting for attention or objects.
