Last week of Snow January 30-Febuary3

News:
-On Thursday ,we will have a pajama day. This will be related to how Peter in the snowy day starts and ends his day in cozy pj's. Sam and Stella also beginning their day in pj's before having adventures in the snow. See the notice that came home on Friday for more information.
-On Friday, we will be rooting on the Patriots for the big game.  Have your child wear a Patriots shirt or wear Patriots team colors(red, white, or blue).  We will be making special hats to bring home to cheer them to victory on Sunday.

Books This Week:
Tracks in the Snow
The Mitten (both versions will be compared this week)
Katy and the Big Snow

Small Groups For This Week:
1.Science- We will be growing crystal snowflackes. We will have to wait until the next day to see if they grow.
2. Syllables in Words- We will be clapping out syllables in our unit words to create a flip book to bring home.  Then we will play a syllable sorting game to reinforce this phonemic skill.
3. Social Studies- We will use a map of our preschool to find all of the different classrooms. We will put a sticker on each location after we find them using our maps. 
Thursday- We will create dreamcatchers for our pajama day so we can have good dreams at night.
Friday- We will create special Patriot hats

Centers
Art Table: cotton ball painting
Block Area:jungle animals (we will discuss how these animals do not hiberate because they live where it is warm all year long)
Sensory Table:snow with Katy plows to role play
Book Area: books about weather
Easel:water colors
Writing Table: writing shopping lists for winter clothes
Dramatic Play: Laundry (our winter clothes are very messy so we are making sure they are clean) Puzzles and Manipulatives: puzzles

Handwriting
We will continuing a program called Handwriting Without Tears. It's focus is on letter formation and letter awareness. This program reinforces proper grasp and trying to strenghten fine motor muscles.
This week's activities: We will continue to work on Big Curve Letters. We will also work on writing and cutting samples for our portfolios.

Preschool Manners
We will continue to work on:
-When you want something form a teacher or friend and they are doing something say, "Excuse me" , take 2 deep breaths(this will help them learn appropriate waiting time), wait for a teacher or friend to look and say yes. Then say, "May I____________?" to get what you want.
