LetterLand Letter N (Tuesday April 7)

Letterland Videos for the Week
Letter this week: N

We know our friends are missing their trips to Letterland and missing the "letter of the week." Miss Courtney from the Busy Bees and myself would like to continue taking weekly trips to Letterland to give everyone a preview of what letters we will continue to learn about when we get back to school.

The letter of the week this week is N.   (But don't worry, we will start with M once we are back to school, so if you don't get to any of the N activities this week, there will be plenty of opportunity to learn about the letter N once we are all back together!) We will be creating and posting videos for everyone to watch!
Letterlander: Noisy Nick

Munching Mike and the Moon Book Video:
Watch this video with your child.  Pause the video along the way and ask them to point and label objects in the picture.  Ask them if they hear the /m/ sound or do not hear the /m/ sound.   This story has some of the Letterlanders we have already learned as well. Ask your child their Letterlander name, letter name, sound, and their action.

Self Portrait

Watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ec7J57YewxQ
This video of Mat Man will remind you how to draw all of the parts of a person.
Draw a picture of yourself.  Don't forget to think of Mat Man when you are drawing.
Then add details to you picture.  What color shirt do you have? What color are your eyes? etc.

Activity # 2 (Math)

Look around your house (or outside) and find items/objects to create a "group."
For example: cheerios, pennies, dried pasta, crayons, etc.
Then, count your items for a family member. See if you can create 5 different groups of items that have 1-10 items in it** (If it helps, draw a 5 frame or a 10-frame --pictured below-- to put your objects in).
After you create a group of items and counted them, try to write the number.

Letterland Activities for the Week: Letter M- March 31

Letterland Videos for the Week
Letter this week:

Ms. Courtney and I have created videos for you to watch at home.  Don't worry, we will start with the letter M when we get back to school.   We know how excited you are to meet the Letterlanders so this is a brief introduction to them but we will officially learn them when we are together again.

Video #1
Watch this video to introduce Munching Mike (Ms. Lisa)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lum_OriAYdI&feature=youtu.be
After watching the video talk to you child about the sound they heard and have them name the letter.  Have a sound hunt in your house and find something that begins with the letter sound.
Can't find anything? That is ok.
Maybe just have them name words they can think of or draw a picture of the word.
Send me pictures of your child with the letter object or send me a picture of their illustration.
I will post them on Instagram for everyone to see.

Video #2
Watch this video Rainbow Write the Letter M (Ms. Courtney)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cueKYhzzZOg
Watch this video of how to correctly form our letter.
Have your child do rainbow writing using 4-6 colors.
Try the rainbow writing app too:
You can also download the Letterland Rainbow Writing app if you don't have paper or crayons handy.  Have fun.

Don't forget to send pictures to bottiglio@bpsk12.org
